201x Yamaha Raider 1900
Summer, 2018

You know how it goes. You buy a motorcycle, get bored of the motorcycle, stop riding the motorcycle, miss owning a motorcycle, and buy another motorcycle. I guess that's why motorcycle ends in "cycle."

I've always liked the look and style of Harley-Davidson motorcycle, but many of the ones my dad and friends have owned developed leaks and needed constant tinkering to keep running which is why I've never purchased one. When I ran across this bike for sale I fell in love with its looks, and I've had great luck with Yamaha bikes in the past.

The bike was for sale on Facebook Marketplace and I paid $5,750 for it, riding it home from Moore, OK. While not quite a chopper, the slightly raked front forks took some getting used to. The bike does not have a back seat; the seller included most of the parts to attach one, but I never got around to doing it. I considered adding some saddle bags for light storage, but all the ones I found required a back seat to hold them in place. I really like the bike's sleek look without the rear seat and so I never bothered with putting one on.

I love the Raider's black-on-black color scheme, and the Yamaha's 1900cc engine has plenty of power for the road. Oil changes are unnecessarily difficult due to three separate oil plugs, but other than that, the bike has been a dream. It's probably the best looking bike I've ever owned. A guy at a gas station once told me it looked like something Batman would ride.
