A couple of weeks ago, I heard a great crash upstairs. After flying up the stairs and reaching my computer room I discovered that the cat had got behind some of my plastic shelves and shoved them over, making a huge mess and breaking a few things in the process. To sort through the mess I brought in another set of metal shelves to use for staging. I walked out of the room for just a second and then I heard another crash behind me. The cat had struck again. By the time I got back to the room, it looked like this:<\/p>\n

The cat was lucky that day she can run faster than I do.<\/p>\n

I had been thinking about upgrading the shelves in that room for a while and, with most of them now on the floor, I decided now was as good a time as any.<\/p>\n

These bracket shelves go up quickly and easily. All you need is a drill, a few screws, and a level to make sure things are even. Oh, and a credit card, because they are expensive. They obviously cost more, but the advantage is that they are adjustable, they are easy to put together, and they don’t need to be painted or sanded or anything like that.<\/p>\n

The weekend before last my friends Charles and Brian arrived from out of town. I finished things up the day before the arrived, and got the computer room looking like this!<\/p>\n

The shelves look a little cluttered at the moment as I’m still sorting through things, but they’re a big improvement from what I had. And, they’re relatively cat proof.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
