Our moving plans are currently up in the air. Originally we were told we would be closing on October 10th. Apparently what the date was picked, nobody involved had a calendar handy; October 10th is Columbus Day, and both the title company and our credit union are closed that day. Closing has been pushed back to Tuesday the 11th, but the title company says they need 72 hours notice, which could theoretically push things back to Friday.<\/p>\n

There’s also some weird mix-up between the credit union and the title company not accepting the printouts we provided that show how much money we have in savings. Susan knows the details and I don’t really care all that much. From what I understand, it seems like a very simple thing to clear up if one side would simply pick up the phone and call someone at the other side. Instead there’s a pile of faxes, printouts, e-mails, and all sorts of barriers that seem to be slowing the process down. I’m definitely pro-technology, but even I must admit that sometimes person-to-person communication works best.<\/p>\n

Normally pushing something like a closing date back a few days wouldn’t be a big deal, but Susan and I both took vacation next week in hopes that we could have everything moved over to the new house by the end of the week. And the reason we were hoping to have everything moved next<\/i> week is because, the following<\/i> week, Susan’s going to be out of town. We were really hoping to have everything moved over and set up before she left out of town. The last thing I need when trying to get the kids ready for school by myself is to discover the kids’ backpacks are at one house and their shoes are at the other …<\/p>\n

The four of us spent the majority of the morning packing things into boxes, with hopes of beating the impending rain and making another run to the storage unit. We didn’t make it. Before the end of the OU game (around 2pm) it started raining, and by bed time last night, it hadn’t stopped. I was able to get the attic emptied out and the kids got a lot of their things into boxes, but all of it’s sitting in either the living room or the garage. Maybe the rain will let up today and we can make a break for it.<\/p>\n

While cleaning out the flower bed, Susan started sweeping away cobwebs and found a nice surprise: a black widow. This is the third one we’ve found on the front porch area.<\/p>\n

Three direct shots with RAID Ant and Spider killer didn’t do the little bugger in, but a good smear with the bottom of a tennis shoe did the trick. The eggs were smashed as well.
