Earlier this summer, People Magazine published a list of the Top 10 Flops of 2010 (So Far). As I scrolled through the list I realized that other than MacGruber (which I watched last night), I hadn’t seen a single movie on the list. As a free service to Hollywood, I have decided to list a few of the movies and tell you why I didn’t see them. <\/p>\n

The A-Team<\/b>
\nBudget:<\/b> $110 million
\nTotal Take:<\/b> $75 million
\nWhy I Didn’t See It:<\/b> I wasn’t that big of an A-Team fan, so I figured I wouldn’t get any of the obligatory television references. What few episodes I do remember of the original A-Team all seem the same (kind of like the military version of Scooby Doo) and so I figured the movie would just be a longer version of that. Mentally I filed The A-Team into “rental” category, and then never got around to renting it.<\/p>\n

Repo Men<\/b>
\nBudget:<\/b> $32 million
\nTotal Take:<\/b> $14 million
\nWhy I Didn’t See It:<\/b> Repo Men was about people in the future whose job it is to repossess people’s organs. The problem is, in 2009 I saw a movie called Repo! The Genetic Opera (thanks, Jeff) that was about people in the future whose job it is to repossess people’s organs. I’m sure there were differences between the two, but I didn’t really feel like watching the same plot again. Plus, Repo! The Genetic Opera was a small-budget film and I felt like Repo Men was Hollywood’s way of ripping off and independent film maker and that turned me off.<\/p>\n

Robin Hood<\/b>
\nBudget:<\/b> $200 million
\nTotal Take:<\/b> $105 million
\nWhy I Didn’t See It:<\/b> Because, right or wrong, I felt like I’d already seen it. I’ve since heard that this was more of a prequel than the others, so maybe I’ll watch it someday.<\/p>\n

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time<\/b>
\nBudget:<\/b> $200 million
\nTotal Take:<\/b> $89 million
\nWhy I Didn’t See It:<\/b> Because it was based on a video game that I hadn’t played, and the whole marketing angle seemed to be about Jake Gyllenhaal’s muscles, which didn’t draw me in.<\/p>\n

The Sorcerer\u2019s Apprentice<\/b>
\nBudget:<\/b> $150 million
\nTotal Take:<\/b> $25 million
\nWhy I Didn’t See It:<\/b> Because the original trailer made it look scary, and then when I learned it was from Disney I knew it wouldn’t be scary. Plus I can’t even get my kid to sit through Harry Potter so I knew we had no chance at this. PLUS there are like 15 Harry Potter knock off films either out or coming out. Maybe a RedBox Rental someday.<\/p>\n

And finally …<\/p>\n

MacGruber<\/b>
\nBudget:<\/b> $10 million
\nTotal Take:<\/b> $8.5 million
\nWhy I Didn’t (Originally) See It:<\/b> Because MacGruber is a Saturday Night Live skit that revolves around one joke (that MacGruber is like MacGyver, except he can never defuse the bomb and he always gets blown up). I also thought the MacGruber character would be awful for 90 minutes, which the film makers must’ve realized because the character in the film was quite different from the television version.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
