Saturday evening, Morgan, her boyfriend, and a few of her friends attended their senior prom. <\/p>\n

I’m not sure how excited Morgan originally was in attending the prom. Like many kids, as dresses were purchased and nails were fancied, her interest level appeared to increase. Susan, on the other hand, as been looking forward to this moment for years. Decades, maybe. Susan was very excited about dress shopping, shoe shopping, and all the other prom-related activities. <\/p>\n

Back when I was in high school guys typically wore tuxedos to the prom, and the tradition was to eat at a formal restaurant before heading off to the prom. Times change. Morgan and her friends left from our house to the prom, and later went from there to eat, still wearing their formal wear, at iHop. From there they went to one of the girls’ houses before calling it a night.<\/p>\n

I still remember my own prom night quite well, and all the fun, disappointment, and everything in between I felt that evening. For some the senior prom is one of the highlights of their high school experience and for other, more socially-awkward teens, it is a rite of passage to be survived.
