This year for Father’s Day, Mason gave me a chair, Morgan gave me a foot rest, and Susan gave me a new coffee maker. On the surface those gifts might not sound very exciting, but each one was something I had mentioned wanting over the past month or so, and either hadn’t got around to purchasing or simply forgot about. With each one, I got a kick out of knowing that they had listened to my old man grumbles and put some thought into giving me things I really wanted. The foot rest is already out on the front porch; the chair’s going on the back porch tomorrow.<\/p>\n

Sunday morning Dad came over for our weekly coffee time (we used the old coffee maker, which is on its last legs) and then stayed for pizza for lunch — not just any pizza, but sausage pizza from Aurelio’s. My super awesome Aunt Linda bought the pizzas (frozen) last week at Aurelio’s in Chicago, delivered them to us in Iowa (more on that tomorrow), and then Susan baked them in Oklahoma. The pizzas were no worse for wear having traveled 800 miles, and were terrific!<\/p>\n

After a short Father’s Day nap, Susan and I zipped over to the local casino and spent some time and money there. We found a a new Goonies-themed machine and really enjoyed it, but were disappointed to discover that the casino had closed down\/removed all of their free soda fountains. We spend roughly a hundred bucks each time we go; you would think giving people 25 cents worth of soda wouldn’t be too much to ask.<\/p>\n

I was glad I got to spend time with my dad today, and glad that my wife and kids made time to spend with me. Good times.<\/p>\n
