A little over a month ago I decided to buy an external terabyte drive and copy all of my mp3s over to it. Copying all of mp3s over to the drive took a couple of weeks. I have a lot. For this week’s trip to Atlanta I decided to bring the drive along with me so I could do some file house cleaning and listen to some music at the same time.<\/p>\n

So how’s that going, you might ask? Well, I’ll tell you. Winamp keeps randomly stopping while on random play. One of the tracks it was hanging on was Help!, by the Beatles. When I went to delete the file I got the following error: “This file is unreadable or corrupt. Windows cannot read or delete this file.” (I am paraphrasing slightly.) After searching online I decided to run a chkdsk, something I haven’t done in years. Chkdsk found all my corrupt mp3s … hundreds of them … and went ahead and deleted them for me. <\/p>\n

So, the bad news: it appears hundreds of my mp3s have become corrupt since moving them to the external usb drive. That’s not good.<\/p>\n

The good news: I still have backups of everything. Nothing’s ‘lost’ … but I still have a serious problem.<\/p>\n
