December 12th was Mason’s 2nd birthday. During the day, we had a “make your own cupcake” party over at his daycare. Susan brought “blank” cupcakes over to daycare with lots of fixins — icing, sprinkles, and other goodies. The kids then got to decorate the cupcakes however they wanted. It was a big hit with the kids for sure!
Then it was off to the house, to prepare for Mason’s big birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese! Despite the fact that we had plans, Mother Nature had plans of her own and decided to turn Oklahoma City into one big ice skating rink. Due to the weather conditions, we decided to call the party off. Susan’s sister and her three kids (who live about ten houses down from us) came over and we had some cake and ice cream then. Mason probably had just as much fun playing with them as he would have had at ‘the Cheese’, and it ended up dragging his birthday over the entire weekend, which he did not mind at all.
December 13th, Saturday, Susan graduated from college. Mom watched Mason and Dad and I went down for the infamous cap and gown ceremony. It was pretty cool to see her walk across the stage.
That night, Susan’s sister and I set up a surprise graduation party at Cocino De Mino. Susan’s grandpa, mom, sister, and her three kids all came, as did my mom, dad, and sister. It was quite the get together! Susan got several graduation presents, Mason got some latent birthday presents, and I got a full order of beef and chicken fajitas. Everybody was happy.
It was a great weekend all the way around.
