Christmas 2004 Recap

Christmas went pretty smooth this year. I ended up procrastinating (as usual) and did most of my shopping the week of Christmas and a lot of it on Christmas Eve (which wasn’t as bad as it sounds, since we were off that day). I think I did a decent job of finding good gifts for people this year — whether or not they thought so is another story.

We had our annual Christmas Eve get together which went smoothly. We had lots of food and good times with both Susan’s family and my own. Once everyone left we spent the next two hours trying to calm Mason down and get him ready for bed. Once he was down, Santa had some toys to put together. It sucks when you realize at 1AM that you need more batteries.

Christmas morning Mason woke up around 7AM and did what all 3-year-olds do on Christmas morning. Later Dad and Linda came over and we ate the traditional Christmas waffles. Later that day we went over to mom’s, exchanged more gifts, and picked at more food. I’m still pretty full and it’s been four days now.

I’ve been spending a lot of time this evening thinking about New Year’s Resolutions. I don’t think they are stupid or worthless at all — rather, I think the New Year is a good time to sit down, reevaluate what has gone right over the past year and think about ways to change things for the next year. I feel like this year I’ve wasted a lot of time on the computer, which will be just one of the things I address next year. Life’s too short to waste days on end. You never know when a tsunami could come along …
