Mason has learned the art of trading with his sister. For example, yesterday in the car, Morgan found a plastic princess necklace and began playing with it.
Mason: Can I see that necklace?
Morgan: No.
Mason: Please?
Morgan: No.
Me: Mason, it’s a dumb girly necklace. Leave her alone.
Mason: But I want to play with it!
Me: No.
Morgan: No.
(Silence.)
(Mason picks up a piece of trash off the floorboard.)
Mason: Morgan, you want this?
Morgan: Yes.
Mason: I’ll trade you for the necklace.
Morgan: Trade.
(Mason gives her the trash; Morgan gives him the necklace.)
Whatever.
