This morning, General Motors announced that as of the first of the year, they will be closing their Oklahoma GM Assembly Plant (located in Midwest City). According to the report, the Oklahoma plant manufactures sport utility vehicles, has been open since 1979, and employs “more than 2,400 people.” Gonna be a tough job market around here for a while.

And speaking of jobs, I just took my first paying computer repair jbb this weekend. I was all giddy when a friend called me up and said her work computer wouldn’t turn on. I was sure it was the power supply. Turns out, it was the motherboard/CPU. So, on my first official side job I got to be the bearer of bad news. I’m not sure if they’re going to want me to replace it yet or if they’re just going to buy a new computer, but PC-Tech has motherboard/CPU/RAM combos for around $250, and they sell new computers for $350 so …

I’ve got leave I have to burn by the end of November, so I’m taking off Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. We’re off Thursday for Thanksgiving, so this week I’m just working Monday and Friday.
