Susan and I discovered flavored vodka a couple of years ago. When we first discovered it, 360 Vodka came in multiple flavors including peach, blueberry, and marshmallow. We bought a bottle of marshmallow flavored vodka and occasionally poured it into mugs of hot chocolate on cold winter days. It was good.
Over the weekend on our way to the bed and breakfast we decided to stop by the liquor store and pick up a bottle of… something. While walking through the store, we found this:
Now, anybody who knows me knows I will buy or do something stupid just for a good story. $11.99 seemed like an affordable amount of money to find out the answer to the question you are wondering now and I was wondering on Saturday: what does buttered popcorn flavored vodka taste like?
Now I know, and you’re about to. It tastes a lot like buttered popcorn flavored Jelly Bellies… if only they burned a little, going down. They have a remarkably similar aftertaste.
360’s website offers three potential recipes. There’s “Night out at the Movies,” which says you can mix it with Coke. Makes sense. There’s also a caramel corn recipe that suggests mixing it with sugar and caramel. I have to admit, I have about as many ideas as they do. I don’t have a lot of things sitting around the house that I think would go good with buttered popcorn.
For the record, we shot ours straight. Also for the record, I suspect the partially drank bottle will sit in our cabinet for years to come. Mention it if you’re ever over and want to try a swig.
Update: it grows on you, and I drank the entire bottle. Would buy again. :)
