This was part of a larger blog post that took a different direction so I split this little tidbit out. Did you know you can fix many scratched CDs with white toothpaste? I’ve tried it out of desperation a couple of times with success both times. Not only does the toothpaste fix scratches, it also prevents them from getting cavities in the future.

For heavier scratches that toothpaste can’t quite handle, you can use brass polish. I’ve had to resort to that a couple of times.
No matter how times I’m told or shown this I can’t believe and will never risk it. It just seems too ridiculous. haha
Have you ever used Azuradisc? They seem to be able to fix anything. I was buying games at a Blockbuster going out of business a few years ago. They had some games that were so badly scratched the guy just gave them to me. Not only a lot of scratches, but scratches so deep you could see the label from the other side. So I sent them to Azuradisc to get fixed. I figured they were free, paying to get them fixed was my charge. But I didn’t think they would possible fix them. They sent them back with a slip saying they were too badly damaged and would likely not work. Yet all the discs looked brand new so i tried them. Every single one of them worked. I was amazed. And all the games sucked.
