Things went better than planned. I was able to stick to my plan of eating Egg Beaters for breakfast and Healthy Choice or Lean Cuisine meals for lunch and dinner almost every day. On the days I was still hungry I added either an apple, a banana, or both. One night for dinner we ended up at Casino De Mino and I had a Chicken Taco Salad without the bowl (400 calories). Since it was early on in the diet I was able to pass on the chips, the cheese, the tortillas and the sopapillas. All I added was salsa and “relish” (carrots, onions and jalapenos) — both “free foods” in my book. Sunday for lunch we ate out at Swadly’s BBQ. I had the smoked turkey sandwich with two sides (green beans and coleslaw). I ate the sides first and was pretty much full (it doesn’t take long to shrink your stomach). I ended up eating the turkey off the sandwich and leaving the bread behind for another 400 calorie meal.
I really stuck to my exercise plan this week as well. Again, it’s early on, so I’ve got a lot of stamina and incentive. We’ll see how that holds out throughout the duration. I managed at least 1.5 miles each day. Several days I walked 2.5 miles, and on Sunday I walked 3 one-mile laps spaced out.
Although week one was technically only five days (Wednesday, Nov 1st – Sunday, Nov 5th) I managed to lose 9 pounds! Now that I’ve got my body’s attention I plan on adding a few calories and adding more exercise as well. I picked up a Tai-Chi video this weekend which didn’t seem to do much except give me sore thighs. The video was a buck at Wal-Mart and kind of sucks. I’ve added a couple of supposedly better ones through Netflix that should be here sometime during the week.
I’ve got all the old jazzercise tapes. Wanna try one of those. Or Jane Fonda workouts. I’ll bet Mason would do one of those with you! Better by far, Richard Simmons! I use them all for weights, because I haven’t watched them in years. I guess I need to dust them off and get busy myself! Keep going bud!
Our VCR is on its last legs and I don’t plan on replacing it (at least not with another VCR — I plan on moving to the digital recording PVR realm). So unfortunately I wouldn’t have any use for VHS tapes except to use them as weights either. I’ll have to check Netflix and see if they have any of those old videos. The only ones I’ve found on there so far are the Carmen Electrica stripper series. And, uh, no.
