Yesterday Dad, Mason and I took Joe, Deb and Patty to the Omniplex. The Omniplex is Oklahoma City’s science museum. I haven’t been to the Omniplex in over ten years so it was interesting see what old exhibits were still there and what was new. One cool thing about the Omniplex is that it caters to a wide range of ages, so both Mason (who’s 4) and Patty (who’s 13) found interesting things to look at. The entire museum is hands on, so whether it’s shouting into a tube learning about echos or standing in an earthquake simulator, it’s very easy to kill several hours there.
Mason really liked the Tesla Coil.
The six of us left the Omniplex in search of lunch. We ended up at the Bricktown Sonic, which was somewhat of a debachle. After attempting and failing to park in two different parking lots (which were apparently for Sonic employees only — and yet not clearly marked as such) we ended up parking in the Bass Pro parking lot, which must be a solid mile away from Sonic. After walking up and down stairs and hills, we got to Sonic to find that a group of 30 or 40 people had just ordered right before us. It took a solid 30 minutes for us to get our lunch. From SONIC. Uncle Joe asked me if I thought Sonic was worth walking a mile for — I told him I normally didn’t think Sonic was worth DRIVING a mile for. Lunch was okay, at best. It’s funny, at the time it always seems hard to come up with a good place to eat, and the following day I can come up with 10 places close by that would have been better. Maybe I should make a list and put it in my phone just for occasions such as that in the future.
Dad, wanting to clean up and catch a quick nap before work, split off from the group. I continued the caravan, taking everyone by the Oklahoma City Bombing Memorial, Harley Davidson World, and Braum’s for a quick afternoon ice cream snack. Unfortunately our dinner plans got steamrolled, a shame since we had reservations at Musashi’s which I was really looking forward to taking everyone to. But, after Sonic burgers and Braum’s Ice Cream, it’s probably just as well that we had salads for dinner at home instead.
