Briefs

Saturday was Morgan’s first birthday party. The whole family came over and everyone had a good time. Morgan ate her first cake like a one-year-old is supposed to at her first birthday party. To make sure everybody could make the party, we ended up having it at 1pm — right in the middle of Morgan’s normal naptime. In many of the pictures, her eyelids are barely open.

Mason was a toot all weekend. I don’t need a child psychiatrist to let me know that it was most likely due to all the attention Morgan got this weekend for her birthday. That knowledge doesn’t help much when you watch your four-year-old head butt your one-year-old, poke her in the eye with a french fry, or throw toys at people’s heads. This was all really out of character for Mase. To ease tensions Sunday morning I got the motorcycle out and drove Mason down to the neighborhood park. I think he enjoyed the little bit of town away from everyone else.

Speaking of the motorcycle, this weekend was the first time I’ve drug it out this year. It’s needed a battery since early spring and I’ve kind of been putting the whole thing off. I’ve toyed with selling it since I don’t get to ride it that much anyway, but I changed my mind this weekend and finally bought a battery. $114, I’m back on two wheels.
