Yesterday was November 11th, 2011. 49 minutes before nooon, it was 11:11 on 11/11/11.
At 11:11 on 11/11/11, Susan and I were having breakfast at Piedmont Cuisine. It’s a small American diner in Piedmont that serves Chinese food. Someone on Urbanspoon referred to it as a “Chiner” (Chinese Diner). Piedmont Cuisine is quickly becoming one of our favorite little breakfast places to eat. They serve good Chinese good, but really great breakfasts. There’s just not a lot of places where you can two eggs and a piece of chicken friend steak with a side of egg drop soup.
11/11 was Veterans Day. It’s a great holiday for many reasons, one of which is that Susan and I are off work but the kids have to go to school, an arrangement that truly gives Mommy and Daddy a “day off”. I still had to get up at 6am to get the kids up and around and leave the house at 6:45am to get them to their 7am bus stop. I got back home around 7:20am or so, and watched TV for about an hour or so before deciding, “Hey, it’s a holiday — I’m going back to bed!” About the time I fell back asleep, Susan got up. I woke back up around 9:30am, and the two of us sat outside in the backyard, looking at our new pond.
Oh yeah, the pond. Back when we were first looking at the new house, it was mentioned that the house backed up to a pond. However when we came and looked at it, all we found was a large mud hole.
Last weekend, it rained and rained. The next morning When we woke up, we found the following out behind our house:
A pond! So anyway, after sitting outside on our porch swing and looking at our new pond for a bit, we finally got up and around and decided to go have some breakfast. around 10:30. That led us down to Piedmont Cuisine, where the two of us, on 11/11/11 at 11:11, shared a late breakfast of eggs, sausage, and biscuits and gravy in our new favorite Chiner while dreaming about growing old together in our new house.
Instant pond, just add water!
It just don’t get no better than that!
Chicken friend steak! Yes! But, my other friend steak, I eat him too. Haaaiiiiiii!
