Today was the big CIO walk-thru at work today. Several FAA honchos and honchettes flew in from Washington DC to survey not only our server room but all the server rooms on campus. For the event I wore khakis, a blue button-down shirt and a blue suit coat. While it may not sound super dressy, for a guy who usually comes to work in blue jeans and either t-shirts or Polos it was a big to-do.

Shortly before lunch, the entourage came through. Five or six of them, I believe. From where I sit I can’t see the front door but I could hear them talking. After being let in to our area, the group was led into our server room. I quickly hopped up, threw my jacket back on and sat back down. A few minutes later, the group came through my area. I tried not to look up when they came in, as I wanted to be working when they came through. So, the group came through … and kept right on walking, right past me. They walked to the front of the room, an area I can’t really see without leaning out of my cubical and looking like an eager monkey. So I waited thinking they might walk back by but nope, then they left.

In all honesty I can say I could’ve come to work wearing a pink tutu and they wouldn’t have noticed.

(Not that I own a pink tutu … just sayin’.)
