Wheels in Motion

Last night, our dear old family friend Pat Deckard came over to take a look at our house for us. If you’ve ever bought, sold, or rented a house in Yukon, Oklahoma, there’s a pretty good chance Pat Deckard had a hand in the deal. To use her own word, she is simply “awesome”. Pat sold our last house to us and for us, sold us the house we’re in now, and is helping us sell it again.

Overall there were no big surprises. Realtors have been telling people to empty their houses and do the repairs they can before selling them, and Pat’s advice was no exception. I was a little embarrassed that we didn’t have more time to clean and empty things out before Pat came over, but she understood and was able to look past any clutter to see the real value. We bought this house largely because of its large lot (a lot and a half, actually), the pool, the building/shed (currently the arcade) and the square footage, and Pat reminded us that that’s exactly what’s going to help us sell it as well.

Over the next month I’m going to be making some tough decisions about what to keep and what to part with. A single month is nowhere near enough time to list and sell all the things I don’t want to keep/move, but hopefully I can make a dent in things. The thought of moving two rooms, a shed, and a three-car garage full of “stuff” (and that’s just MY “stuff”) is causing me to lose sleep at night.

EDIT: It looks like, via Craigslist, I sold seven computers last night. I’m off to a good start!

  1. Good luck with the move Rob I would hate to think of moving out of here..guess maybe a tornado with the insurance company giving us a check for new stuff would be the easiest

  2. how about a link on your page to “stuff I have for sale”? you could post pictures, prices, and your craigslist links.
