The kids and I spent a good portion of the weekend playing Legos. I have too many Legos (a full 30-gallon tub full) to leave them out all the time, so occasionally we’ll drag the tub out, spread a bed sheet out on the floor, dump out all the Legos and build stuff throughout the weekend. On Sunday we gather up all the sheet’s corners, pick it up and set the whole thing back in the tub. Then you pull out the sheet and, presto! No mess, and no stepped on Legos later in the week!
This weekend the kids and I built half a dozen little spaceships. This one was my favorite. I put it together and Mason helped me with some of the design.
Sometimes after we’re done, I’ll do a quick Photoshop job and show the kids the final picture. This one is now my Windows wallpaper. Zoom, zoom!
The best part about playing Legos with the kids is watching their creativity unfold. Both kids would come up with detailed stories as to what each ship was for and what each part’s function was. Good times.
Sounds like a great time indeed! I found out recently that my parents still have all my legos, although I have way less than you. Great idea about using the bed sheet!
Yeah, the bedsheet is smart. I used to have a Lego-branded circular piece of denim that folded up into a bag with drawstrings; same idea but smaller scale.
Anyways, that’s especially cool the kids are coming up with stories and whatnot for what they’re building. Many Dad points for you!
“I have too many Legos”
There’s no such thing as too many legos!

( this is not my video)
Funny, I was so bummed out because they no longer had the videotopia arcade game exhibition there that I never noticed how cool some of these sculptures really are.
You can’t take credit for the sheet idea. We did that when you were kids too. Besides, the white sheet made the great ice planet Hoth! LOL
