According to a recent survey performed by a national research firm, less than 25% of Americans can name more than one of their rights guaranteed to them by the first Amendment, while more than 50% of Americans can name two or more members of the cartoon family The Simpsons.
The study also found that while 22% of Americans could name all five Simpsons family members, only 1 in 1,000 could name all five First Amendment freedoms.
Approximately 20% of Americans surveyed thought the right to own a pet was protected by the First Amendment.
