As I mentioned last year, Oklahoma City has multiple spraygrounds available for kids. They open Memorial Day Weekend and close Labor Day Weekend, and are free.
My only advice before attending the spraygrounds is to drive by and see what kind of people are hanging around in and around the park before you go. The one off of Melrose, unfortunately, feels a little unsafe at times; it’s not the kids, mind you, it’s the shady-looking characters hanging out in their cars out in the parking lot, blasting their stereos and checking out other people’s cars.
Today we visited the sprayground up in Harvest Hills Park, which was significantly nicer. In fact, for about twenty minutes, we were the only people there. Eventually a few other kids showed up, and they all had a good time playing together.
The only excitement was when Morgan disappeared for a minute. Turns out, another father of two had brought watermelon for he and his kids to enjoy. It didn’t take long for Morgan to crash their party.
