Free DVD Rip/Burn Software

For the month of October, the author of WinX DVD is offering his software for free. For those of you without calendars, that means you have four more days to snag it.

WinX DVD Author allows you to burn many video file formats (AVI, MPEG, etc) to a DVD.

WinX DVD Ripper Platinum does the opposite, and rips DVDs to DivX and other formats.

Both programs have slick interfaces, are simple to use and work great. Being free is just icing on the cake.

  1. Are there any new programs out there to replace DVD Shrink with? It’s gotten to the point where it’s almost useless with most new DVDs.

  2. Heheh, I thought this was going to be a comment about the spammers that have been swarming through the DP forums lately! :P

  3. In for one!

I’m getting very close to building a media center PC and canceling my cable TV. This will make it a bit easier when I need to rip a few hundred DVDs to it.

  4. Karl – I highly recommend doing without the TV portion of your cable (this assumes that you’re leaving the cable on for internet purposes). We did it some time back and I don’t think anyone’s missed channel surfing.
