After dinner last night the kids and I stopped by Party Galaxy to check out this year’s Halloween tricks and treats. And as usual, Party Galaxy did not disappoint and there were lots of goblin and ghoul masks for the kids to look at. Well, technically there weren’t any goblins and ghouls, but there were plenty of scary demons and bloody clowns, which are today’s goblins and ghouls.
Party Galaxy always has a few higher end Halloween items for sale as well. This year I saw a mermaid that looked similar to the Feejee Mermaid for about $150 and a couple of life-size skeleton displays for just under $300, but the new things this year were the large animatronic displays.
There were three large displays in all, and each one comes with it’s own air compressor (they’re air powered). Set up last night were Krazy Kristen, a demon dog, and a zombie that pukes. Krazy Kristen is a full-sized mannequin in a straight jacket, strapped to a large metal plate (about the size of a standard door). Upon triggering the motion sensor, Kristen screams and thrashes around violently. Kristen must have metal on her back as well because she the thing was so loud that we (me, the kids, and half the store) ran up front to see what was making all that noise. Kristen’s banging was so loud that it (almost) drowned out the sound of the running air compressor.
Next up was the demon dog, which was pretty large — maybe four feet long and a foot to a foot-and-a-half tall. It raised up and barked when you walked by. It was pretty lackluster, but maybe the air pressure was low or something.
The third was our favorite: the puking zombie. The zombie was adult-sized, and leaning over a real oil drum. Once triggered, the zombie puked bright green vomit out of his mouth and into the barrel, where it was recycled back through the zombie via a pump. He also made some amusing puking noises that the kids both enjoyed and imitated.
I actually found most of these on the web. Here’s Krazy Kristen, the Vomit Zombie and what may or may not (hard to tell) be the Demon Dog (hard to tell). There is also a Youtube video of Krazy Kristen.
The prices on the web (not including shipping) are cheaper than what we saw last night. The Demon Dog was $3,000; the other two were $3,500.
three thousand dollars or three dollars? ;)
I dunno, sure looks like they used oobleck for the vomit.
Yikes!
i’ll puke in a bucket outside your house, scare the shit out of your neighbours kids and take home any unwanted candy for $25.
plus i do not need a compressed airline attached to my ass, however that may make the puking sounds a little more realistic. :-)
