Over the weekend I parted with one of the games from my personal collection: Williams’ 1982 classic, Make Trax.
Selling this one was an easy decision, as I’ve never really liked the game Make Trax. I know that may sound weird to those of you who don’t collect arcade games, but, eh, it happens. I actually bought this game because the cabinet was in such great shape (and I got a great deal on it).
I bought Make Trax at a time when my home arcade/game room wasn’t full. These days, it’s full. It’s past full. It’s so full that I currently have five machines sitting in my garage, waiting to move out to the game room whenever space becomes available. Four, now; Ms. Pac-Man now sits in the space Make Trax used to occupy.
I made the decision to sell this particular game last fall, and almost immediately got an offer from a fellow collector … in Denver. He (Steve) swore to me that in the spring, he would drive to Oklahoma and pick up the game. I had a few other offers between then and now but Steve acted like he really wanted it so I decided I would hold on to it for him.
Over the weekend, Steve followed through and made the 12 hour from from Denver to Yukon and picked up the game. Steve and I talked for a few hours about music and games and stuff. He’s a few years older than I am, and 1982’s Make Trax will make a much nicer addition to his collection than mine. After exchanging pleasantries for a couple of hours, we loaded the cabinet up into Steve’s truck, and off he went.
So, bye bye, Make Trax. Steve, I hope you enjoy it!
Farewell to thee, oh taker of our garage space!!!
