Susan got her first Valentine’s gift a bit early this week. Some fuel-and-or-emissions-related thing went out on the van, which cost us $265. Happy Valentine’s Day!
I’ve known for a week what I was going to get Susan (a gift card for a store she likes at the mall) but I put off picking it up until Friday. My plan was to sneak out Friday during the day while Susan was working and pick up the gift card then, all ninja-like. What I didn’t know/forgot was that Susan scheduled Friday off. With the van in the shop, that meant we only had one vehicle — and she had it. That blew my Friday shopping plans out of the water, so I didn’t make it to the mall until Saturday morning on Valentine’s Day. Oops. Sometimes I suck at holidays.
While Susan and Mason attended a school function Saturday morning, Morgan and I zipped over to the mall and picked up the now slightly tardy gift card (I doubled what I had originally planned on spending to try and make up for my faux pas). While Morgan and I were shopping we popped in Candyopolis and I picked up a few things, including a candy slice of pizza made completely of strawberry-flavored marshmallow for Mason and a deadly-looking sucker for Morgan.
The kids loved their candy and Susan must’ve liked her gift card because she went back to the mall to spend it Saturday night.
Sunday morning, we all got up and went to Krispy Kremes for some Valentine’s doughnuts. While Mason preferred the doughnut holes, Morgan really liked this pink one.
Happy happy, joy joy.
After leaving the Kreme we stopped by Granny’s to pick up the kids’ valentines and drop off half the left-over doughnuts (Susan and I are both trying to eat better and we didn’t need a dozen rings of doughy heaven lying around the kitchen). From there we swung by Susan’s sister’s place and dropped off the other half of the doughnuts. Then we went back to the house where the kids ate the chocolate my dad bought them, the stuff my mom bought them, the candy I bought them and the candy their classmates gave them until they exploded from all the sugar.

Morgan has a book calledl Pinkalicious, in which a little girl eats so many pink cupcakes that she turns pink. We LOVE that book. Morgan asked for a “pinkalicious donut” and this is what she got!
From the looks of both kids in the last picture, they might be on sugar overload. Morgan’s eyes look a little wild! Glad I could help contribute to it!…. Granny
