ATL

Everything’s going well during my Atlanta stay so far.

The hotel is swanky. The rooms are huge and breakfast and a “bistro” dinner are free. I only have two complaints about the room. The first is, you can’t see the television from the desk area. The second is, the air conditioner is unusually loud — it’s woken me up in the middle of the night several times this week, which is pretty hard to do. Even with those two drawbacks I still give the hotel a 9 out of 10. I’ve never stayed in a Hotel Sierra before but I highly recommend it/them.

Class is rad, too. I’m learning WebInspect, a vulnerability scanner for websites. The product was written by a company called SpiDynamics which has since been purchased by HP, so the class is taking place at a large HP facility just north of Atlanta. The classroom is pretty nice and the course is perfectly paced. On top of all that, the instructor is into MAME and used to work in an arcade so … we hit it off.

The hotel is half a mile from the class, and the strip that both are located on is overflowing with restaurants. So far I’ve had Italian, Mexican, Japanese and Chinese. I think lunch today is Thai and I haven’t decided on dinner yet.

Class ends today; tonight I recharge, tomorrow I drive.

  1. Is that recharge on you or on all the electronics so you can make the long trip home? There’s a funny thing about moms and kids. We can go a while without talking, but I know if anything was wrong you would let me know. Just knowing you’re so far away, I have a little underlying edge of nervousness until you’re back home. So drive safe. I won’t sleep good until you’re back in Yukon, America! Mom

  2. Cool, I got a mention!

Rob was one of the most interesting people I have met in years. Glad you got home safe, maybe I see you again someday.
