The ice maker in our fridge started to leak water from the bottom. So just as you see in the link Dave put up you can just replace the entire maker for around $50-$60. I did much the same thing he did. I went to the Sears repair web page and found the part number of the entire maker. I then GTSed it and looked for one on pricegrabber.com. Walmart had one for the lowest price. They just built a new Walmart down the street so I set it to ship to store to keep from paying the shipping charges. A few days later I get an email from Walmart that it will be delivered on such and such day. Well I am out of town that day, but the next day I go by and pick it up. Well it being a “new” Walmart they can’t figure out how to do the processing on it, so the manager photo copies my DL and I take it home. It took more time to clean out the stuff in the way in the freezer then it was to take the 2 screws out and unplug the old unit.

Check Repairclinic.com. That’s how I figured out to fix ours (and found the right replacement part). Washers, dryers, fridges and even mowers.

I still have my Reader’s Digest Fix-It manual but I use the Web and/or Youtube a lot more these days. And judging from the hit counts on content where I wrote about fixing things, it seems that’s pretty common.
