Certified in and taught first aid and CPR multiple times, starting in the seventh grade. Unfortunately, the most I’ve had to use first aid (before I had Mason) was on myself – well, mostly on my feet when I stepped on stuff or rammed stuff through them, or ripped them through the side then out the top (truly).

And at camp I was always doing stuff that could potentially be dangerous with kids – cooking over a fire, mountain climbing, boating, jumping off of stuff, running, etc. The most exciting first aid I ever got to do was pulling a fish hook out of a kid’s neck and picking cactus prickles out of kids who fell on the mountains.

WHO KNEW that the true reason I went through all of that training was to teach me how to STAY CALM and know what to do when my own kid got hurt. This last two months with Mason alone already surpasses my entire first aid application history.

I’m sure it’s just a phase…

Glad to hear that Mason wasn’t seriously injured… But you’re right, maybe the Ripstick isn’t such a good idea. No wonder you freaked out when it happened, anyone would have in your place.

@Greg: Only one; Mason got the fish for Christmas.
