Right next to my hotel here in Exton, PA is a big sign that reads “West Chester – 7 Miles”. I pass the sign each morning on the way to class and when I see it all I can think is, “that’s where Bam Margera lives.”
Bam Margera and his group of unruly friends are known mostly for pulling pranks on and/or hurting one another. Bam and his friends shot and starred in a series of videos known as CKY before teaming up with Johnny Knoxville and forming the television show Jackass. After Jackass ended, Bam went on to star in his own MTV series, Viva La Bam and Bam’s Unholy Union. Both shows, along with Bam’s movies Haggard and Where the $@#% is Santa, were filmed in West Chester.
So, I thought I’d drop by his place and see what’s up.
A quick Google search for Bam Margera’s house turns up two different types of results. The first ones all say “Bam Margera is just a person! Leave him alone!!!” The other ones all say, “435 Hickory Hill Road, West Chester, PA.” I went with the latter and simply punched the address into my GPS.
Although the jaunt over to West Chester only took about ten minutes, the scenery and local architecture changed greatly. While Malvern and Exton barely have a “Philadelphia” feel to them, West Chester is all east coast — it reminded my greatly of the buildings and houses I’ve seen in Boston the couple of times I’ve been there.
Bam lives pretty far out in the woods. After cruising through West Chester you’ll head out of town several miles. For several minutes all I saw were trees and deer. Eventually, after passing several large houses, I found a large property surrounded by an eight-foot tall privacy fence. The fence is covered with security cameras, motion-sensitive lights, and signs like these:
Surely that doesn’t apply to me, right? Ignoring the signs I pulled around and entered the driveway. “Bam, I’m here!” I yelled, but no one came. I even tried “666” on the access keypad. Nothing.
Around the corner you can see more of the property. Although you can’t make it out in this picture, if you drive around the corner you can see over/through the fence. Even without leaving my car, I could make out the house and what looked like either a skate ramp or a pool deck. I’m sure I could have seen more had I got out and stood in the back of my truck but I was already feeling like a teenage girl stalking a rock star, so I called it good after waving to the crew in one of the security cameras.
I tried to get a better picture but a bunch of deer jumped out of the brush and scared the crap out of me so I decided not to stick around. If you’re ever in Oklahoma, Bam, look me up and drop by.
You should drive over to QVC Studio Park in West Chester – where Commodore HQ used to be. 1200 Wilson Drive, just off of the Boot Road exit of route 202 (directions from the QVC website).
…OR, visit his Bar/Restaurant in West Chester, he is always there!
