Birthday and Anniversary Celebrations

Last week seemed like one long celebration, beginning with my 23rd wedding anniversary and ending with my 45th birthday.

Susan and I kicked off the week in a small cabin outside of Guthrie. The cabin was one of four that collectively made up Arcadian Getaways. The cabin we reserved was cozy and two-stories, complete with everything a person could want including a screened-in sauna and hot tub, which provided a great view of the surrounding trees and stars late in the evening.

While staying in Guthrie we had dinner at a local diner named Stacy’s Place. We went in with the healthiest of intentions, but when I discovered the daily special was chicken and waffles, all bets were off. The total for two large entrees, two glasses of iced tea, and a piece of cheesecake (that we split) was less than thirty dollars.

A couple of days later, I celebrated my 45th birthday. The day before my birthday, Susan and I ate breakfast at a placed called Syrup, and a few hours later she and my friend Emily took me to my favorite sushi place on earth. On my birthday, I ate steak with my dad at Saltgrass Steak House, Chinese food with my family for dinner, and had a big piece of frozen cake from Freddy’s Frozen Custard. I was also treated to coffee from Starbucks, a cookie from Panera, and an ice cream sandwich from Baked Bear. I should have asked for some sweatpants for my birthday this year, as my pants barely fit now!

The celebration came to an end Saturday morning when Susan boarded a plane headed for California. I had a great week with lots of birthday wishes from friends and family.
